About Heather Hafleigh
Heather Hafleigh grew up in Arizona and began riding at age four. She has a little bucksin quarter horse named Monte. She started photographing while in college, and has devoted the last 17 years to documenting contemporary ranchers, horsemen and craftsmen in California who are carrying on the Vaquero tradition. Her work is included in collections at the Autry Museum of Western Heritage, Oakland Museum of California, and the Western Folklife Center in Nevada. She has exhibited widely, including Trappings of the American West and cowboy exhibits at the Skyharbor Airport in Phoenix and the Oakland Airport.
