A definitive work on the terms used in Dressage. Clear, simple and comprehensive.
(softcover, illustrations, 110 pgs.)
Excerpt from the book:
Behind the bit: This is an evasion where the horse has "dropped" the contact of the bit, the horse's head is usually behind the vertical and is not accepting the bit and the contact of the rider's hands. When the rider lengthens the reins, the horse does not lengthen his neck or move his head forward, when asked. Refer: vertical, behind the vertical, broken neck.
Flying change: This term relates to when the horse changes the leading leg of the canter within a canter stride. The change occurs in the air during the moment of suspension, without changes of the straightness, rhythm, tempo, ground cover or line of the canter gait. Refer: late behind, early behind, late in front.
